Understanding Trauma
Deepen your understanding of trauma in this self-paced online course.
Trauma can show up in surprising ways--are you trauma-informed? Are you ready to explore the effects of trauma and best practices for emotional healing?
Understanding Trauma is an 8-module, self-paced Immanuel Institute course designed for anyone seeking a more thorough understanding of trauma's effects on the brain, body, relationships, and spiritual life.
Through curated resources from leading trauma experts--including Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Gabor Maté, Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr. Karl Lehman, and Dr. Jim Wilder--this foundational course explores the neurological and physiological impact of trauma, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, intergenerational trauma and more.
Understanding Trauma also introduces the ethical, trauma-informed foundations of the Immanuel Approach and why it’s a powerful tool for emotional healing.
*Understanding Trauma is a required course for students entering Level II: The Immanuel Approach for Emotional Healing. Current Level II students receive automatic access with Level II tuition (no additional payment or registration is required). Understanding Trauma is also a valuable resource for anyone wanting to grow in compassionate, informed care for themselves and others. It may be taken before or after Level I: The Immanuel Approach for Life.
